What Type of Blogger are You

What Type of Blogger are You
In my last article Blogging 101 an Introduction I talked about twelve different topics you can choose to focus your blog on. I suggested that you choose one topic to be the main focus of your blog and then add a few others to be more helpful to your readership and draw a bigger audience.

After establishing your main topic it is time to ponder on what type of blogger you want to become. Each type of blogger I am going to talk about can fit into many of the different types of topics. Keep your main topic in mind as you review the different types of bloggers below.

The goal of this series of articles is to help you build a strong rock foundation for your new blog that you can build upon for years to come. Imagine each concept as separate bricks being stacked one on top of the other. The mortar between the bricks is how you assemble the different concepts together.

3 Main Types of Bloggers

1. Business

The main focus of the Business Blog is to make a name for the business or owner while they make money. This type of blogger derives their income from the blog itself. Business blogs include: business owner blogs, affiliate sales blogs, niche blogs, product sales, as well as platform blogs for writers, authors, artists, photographers, and art galleries.

These types of bloggers utilize designs and blogging platforms that facilitate branding and income generation. This means they are not the “artsy” type of blog designs. They are attractive and appealing, however, they are business oriented so the “cutesy” look and feel are not used.

Most business bloggers are full-time and take full advantage of marketing and social media.

One of their main goals is to build a large subscribe list so that they can continue to build their income.

Business blogs have solid writing and cover timely, helpful, topics.

Any of the blog topics can be used by Business bloggers, including Mommy bloggers.

2. Professional

Professional bloggers are a bread of their own. Their goal is to be in the top 100 of all blogs for their main topic area. They publish posts at least 3 times a week, with impeccable writing. Many of them hire both copy and line editors to make sure they stay on top in their field.

Many professional bloggers use clean minimalist designs so that their content is what people focus on.

Most professional blogs build large subscriber lists and sell their products and services to their lists, instead of using the blog itself like Business bloggers.

Any of the topics can be the main focus for Professional bloggers.

3. Personal

Personal blogs are for people who want to write in a more relaxed, free-flowing style. The designs are open to the bloggers personal preferences so they can be very detailed or quite stark.

Personal blogs are where people can let their hair down, rant, or delve into topics of discussion without having to maintain a professional sound.

Personal blogs can be full or part-time, and they generally do not create an income. These types of bloggers focus on freedom of expression over business.

In upcoming articles I will cover each of the three main types of bloggers in more detail. In the meantime, decide which type of blogger you want to be.
